Travis Wheat
Founder & CEO, Wheat/Trigo Companies
Travis Wheat is the Founder and CEO of Wheat/Trigo Companies. A graduate of Texas Tech University in 2007, Travis earned a double major in General Business and Management from the Jerry S. Rawls School of Business. He also received the Big XII All-Academic Award and later earned a Petroleum Land Practices Certificate from TCU’s Neeley School of Business. He is a Certified Professional Landman (CPL) and an active member of AAPL, FWAPL, DAPL, and the Ohio Division of Real Estate and Licensing.
Beyond energy, Travis has served on the board of Pediatric Home Health Care, LLC and currently serves on the Advisory Board of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
Travis began his oil and gas career in 2007 with Holland Acquisitions in Fort Worth, handling leasing and title work across the Barnett Shale. He later joined Kastner Land Services as a crew chief, managing projects and launching the firm’s West Texas division. These early roles built his foundation in title curative work and project oversight.
In 2012, Travis founded Wheat Resources, LLC, focusing on leasing and non-operating working interests across West Texas, particularly in the Delaware Basin. His ventures have assembled over 30,000 net acres in Reeves, Ward, Loving, and Howard counties. In 2018, he launched Wheat Energy Partners and Trigo Oil & Gas, expanding into both non-operating and operating roles. With over $200 million placed alongside strategic partners and $50 million deployed in drilling and completions, Travis continues to lead acquisitions, negotiations, and operations across the upstream and midstream sectors.
